Senior Civil Airfield Engineer – Aviation

WSP, a leading engineering and professional services firm, is hiring a Senior Airfield Civil Engineer for projects in the UK and internationally.

We are looking for a senior engineer who will plan, design and manage the construction of resilient, sustainable airports, working with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality outcomes.

• Prepare technical reports, calculations, drawings and specifications for airfield projects.
• Manage and coordinate design teams, communicating with all stakeholders.
• Identify and manage design risks, issues and RFIs.
• Ensure cost, quality and time targets are met.
• Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance.
• Champion health and safety within design, site inspections and CDM compliance.
• Support Project Managers with progress monitoring, change management and documentation control.
• Respond to client directions professionally and maintain client relationships.

• University degree in civil engineering, construction, design or related discipline.
• Chartered or Incorporated status (MICE, MCIHT, etc.) or equivalent experience is preferred.
• Experience delivering large, technically complex multi‑disciplinary airfield civil engineering projects.
• Knowledge of international airfield standards (ICAO, CAA, EASA, FAA).
• Experience with Civil 3D and other airfield design software such as Avi Plan, Sky Safe and FAARFIELD.
• Understanding of construction contracts (e.g., NEC) and processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Team‑playing mindset and ability to solve complex problems.
• Independence and confidence in making technical engineering decisions.
