Senior / Principal Transport Planning Consultant

Location: Newcastle (Hybrid Working)

The Opportunity:
Due to continued growth, our client is seeking a Senior or Principal Transport Planning Consultant to join their expanding team in Newcastle. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering innovative and cost-effective transport and highways solutions for a wide range of development projects.

The role is ideal for a motivated, proactive professional who enjoys managing projects, building client relationships, and contributing to the success of a supportive and dynamic consultancy team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and deliver transport planning projects from feasibility through to post-planning stages.

  • Prepare fee proposals, project briefs, and manage resources effectively.

  • Produce high-quality technical reports, including Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, and Transport Strategies.

  • Undertake and oversee data analysis using relevant software (e.g. TRICS, LINSIG, ARCADY, PICADY).

  • Liaise with clients, local authorities, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure smooth project delivery.

  • Monitor budgets, timescales, and quality standards across multiple projects.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

About You:

  • Degree qualified in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, or a related field.

  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in development-related transport planning.

  • Strong technical skills and experience with TRICS, LINSIG, ARCADY, PICADY (GIS or AutoCAD skills advantageous).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proven ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.

  • Experience engaging with local authorities and stakeholders.

  • A strong understanding of planning policy, DMRB, and Manual for Streets.
