Infrastructure Engineer

In this role you are the  boots on the ground  technical expert. You will design, rack, configure, and automate physical and virtual infrastructure within client-owned data centres. You bridge the gap between  tin  (hardware) and modern automation.

• Virtualisation: Expert-level VMware vSphere/ESXi or Microsoft Hyper-V.
• Windows Server
• Storage (SAN/NAS): Managing and zoning Net App, Dell EMC, or Pure Storage (iSCSI, Fibre Channel).
• Compute: Hands‑on with HPE Pro Liant, Dell Power Edge, or Cisco UCS blade servers.
• Networking: L2/L3 switching, VLANs, and Firewalls (Cisco ASA/Firepower, Fortinet, or Palo Alto).
• Backups: Designing recovery tiers using Veeam, Commvault, or Cohesity

• Automation: Using Ansible or Power Shell to manage  Bare Metal  and VM templates.
• Hardware Lifecycle: Leading  Lift & Shift  projects, server refreshes, and firmware patching across diverse hardware estates.
• Private Cloud Build: Deploying software‑defined data centres (SDDC) using tools like VMware vSAN or NSX

• Active Directory & Identity: Managing complex UK-based domains, Group Policy (GPO), and local DNS/DHCP.
• Disaster Recovery (DR): Building off‑site replication and  Cold/Warm  site recovery procedures.

Senior Hands‑on Infrastructure Experience – We are looking for an engineer who has moved beyond simple administration and can lead the end‑to‑end lifecycle of complex environments.

• Russell Group University (Preferred): You likely hold a 2:1 or 1st Class degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Mathematics, or a related STEM subject from a leading UK research institution.
