Senior Maritime Engineer
Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST) is hiring a Senior Maritime Engineer to design, evaluate, and oversee marine civil engineering projects across ports and shipyards worldwide. This role demands strong technical judgment, leadership, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities- Develop engineering design solutions for maritime civil structures, utilizing steel, concrete, timber and relevant design codes.
- Lead all project phases from inception through design, construction, demolition, recycling, and reuse.
- Collect and collate design data, produce calculations, and review others’ calculations.
- Create outline models, drawings, and CAD details (Revit preferred) and ensure quality prior to issue.
- Prepare draft Bills of Quantities, contract documents, specifications, reports, and presentations.
- Undertake structural analyses and provide engineering judgement and advice.
- Manage, coach, and develop junior staff.
- Produce proposals and work directly with clients on project interests.
- BSc or higher in Civil/Structural Engineering; CEng MICE or CEng MiStruct
E preferred. - Professional experience in planning and design of maritime structures.
- Familiarity with international maritime and structural engineering standards, manuals, and guidelines.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience (desirable).
- Experience with BIM Level 2 and maritime-specific civil engineering (desirable).
- Excellent technical track record and ability to improve productivity with technology.
- Willingness to travel occasionally throughout the UK and overseas.
