Job Title: BMS Engineer
Location: Newcastle-upon-Tyne (Royal Victoria Infirmary)
Contract: Permanent Full-Time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced BMS Maintenance Engineer to join a growing team of engineers. Reporting to the Account Manager, you will support the estates team in delivering high-quality maintenance services across a large and complex site.
Role Overview
You will be responsible for maintaining the site's Building Management System and associated computerised control systems. This includes planned and reactive maintenance, servicing, testing, diagnosis, repair and calibration of advanced electrical and mechanical plant and equipment.
A key part of the role is ensuring the BMS is optimised for maximum energy efficiency. You will support the achievement of annual energy targets, prepare monthly energy reports, and provide data for quarterly and annual submissions. You will also attend the Joint Energy Working Group as required.
You will become a subject matter expert in BMS and automated controls, supported by access to Schneider Electric Eco Struxure training.
You will also ensure robust disaster recovery measures are in place to minimise downtime, while maintaining full compliance with all Health & Safety policies and procedures.
Additional Responsibilities
- Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota
- Respond effectively to new and unforeseen situations
- Share knowledge with colleagues when required
- Undertake ongoing training to maintain competency
Knowledge & Experience
- Extensive experience with major BMS platforms (Tridium Niagara, Trend, Siemens Desigo, Schneider Eco Struxure, Honeywell, Distech).
- Strong knowledge of electrical wiring practices, electronic components and schematic interpretation.
- Proven experience in BMS energy management on a large site with challenging targets.
- Understanding of energy centre technologies (CHPs, boilers, generators, chillers, heat pumps) - desirable.
- Good knowledge of HVAC systems and BMS interface protocols including BACnet, Modbus and M-Bus - desirable.
- Computer literate with experience using Windows-based applications.
- Motivated, enthusiastic, able to work independently and as part of a professional estates team.
Qualifications
- Recognised engineering apprenticeship.
- City & Guilds, BTEC, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years post-apprenticeship experience, ideally in a healthcare environment.
- 18th Edition (desirable).
- City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing.
