The Atkins

Réalis Infrastructure Project Delivery Practice (PDP) is the centre of excellence for the delivery of infrastructure projects and combines the best in project management, commercial and design management to provide a full suite of services to clients in the public and private sectors. The team is responsible for delivery of design services across Water Infrastructure, Defence Infrastructure, Nuclear, Aviation, Energy, Rail (stations), and Urban Developments.

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Commercial Manager to join our NS&NI practice from one of our offices in Glasgow, Newcastle, Stockton, Leeds or Manchester. The role supports the delivery of projects from inception to completion across a variety of sectors.

Your Role
  • Deliver commercial targets for projects following handover from bid/central commercial team.
  • Assemble and own the commercial aspects of project delivery for a portfolio of projects across the region, with regular reporting to commercial leadership.
  • Protect Atkins

    Réalis’ commercial interest through support to the delivery of key contracts with robust commercial processes.
  • Provide regular support to Project Managers and Project Directors to manage the commercial aspects of complex projects including change management, Early Warnings, Change Notices and Claims.
  • Resolve disputes and contractual interpretation issues.
  • Work with project teams to identify and manage risks and opportunities that could impact commercial outcomes.
  • Act as a senior member of the project team – build, motivate, and coach the team towards problem solving and decision making.
  • Deliver projects in accordance with Atkins

About You
  • Commercial/Contract Management experience and understanding of engineering consultancy and design markets.
  • Chartered status CEng, MRICS or equivalent.
  • Experience across a range of major projects and market sectors.
  • Experience in commercial management using NEC3/4 or bespoke contract forms.
  • Customer‑focused with excellent client relationship management skills.
  • Strong understanding of assurance and compliance principles.
  • Ability to identify new opportunities and drive business growth.
  • Self‑motivated and able to work independently and within multi‑discipline teams.
  • Hard‑working, detail‑oriented, proactive, resilient under pressure.
  • Leadership capability – delegate, motivate, and mentor team members.
  • Adaptability to different cultures and working environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Collaborative delivery approach.
  • Available to travel across the UK and work away from home on client sites when required.
