Engineering Facilities Manager
Location: Fawdon, Newcastle upon Tyne
Salary: Competitive + bonus + benefits
Role:
Reporting directly to the Fawdon site Associate Director of Engineering, you will lead the site facilities engineering team, supporting all aspects of facilities engineering and compliance to world‑class pharmaceutical standards.
Responsibilities:
- Management and coordination of the site facilities engineering team and budget to support site pharmaceutical production.
- Ensure all site legislative compliance requirements are met, including DSEAR, PSSR, PUWER, the Electricity at Work Act, etc.
- Ensure all facilities‑related GMP compliance is adhered to.
- Manage and control the site planned maintenance systems and metrics.
- Collaborate with the Site Project Manager for facilities Capex requirements.
- Provide expert advice for new facilities‑related Capex installations such as WFI systems, HVAC, chillers, boilers and CHP plant.
- Respond to facilities breakdown situations in a timely manner to minimise production downtime and maximise efficiency.
- Oversee the site facilities engineering team comprising an engineering team leader, site electrical engineer, compliance engineer, validation engineer and engineering administrator.
- Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all site grounds, buildings, utilities (including WFI systems, CIP systems, chillers, boilers, CHP plant, HVAC, etc.) and infrastructure.
Qualifications:
- HND in a suitable engineering discipline.
- Preferably experience of site facilities in a pharmaceutical, food or cosmetic environment.
- Strong manager with a flexible and open communication style, able to direct and train others.
- Familiarity with computer maintenance management systems.
- Proactive approach to engineering maintenance management.
- Experience working in a facilities engineering environment.
- Understanding of health and safety legislation regarding safe working practices.
- Experience investigating performance and quality issues with exposure to continuous improvement and lean techniques.
- Proactive mindset, effective teamwork and a can‑do flexible approach.
