Boyd Recruitment are currently working on behalf of a leading Civil Engineering contractor who are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to support a civil engineering project in Newcastle on a contract basis.

This is a site-based role, ideal for a proactive H&S professional with strong civil engineering experience who can drive safe working practices, support site teams, and ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day Health & Safety support across site operations

Ensure compliance with HSE legislation, company procedures, and project requirements

Conduct site inspections, audits, and safety tours

Support the production, review, and implementation of RAMS

Deliver toolbox talks, inductions, and safety briefings

Investigate incidents and near misses, producing reports and corrective actions

Work closely with site management to promote a positive safety culture

Requirements

Proven experience as a Health & Safety Advisor within civil engineering or infrastructure

Strong knowledge of UK H&S legislation and CDM Regulations

NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (minimum)

CSCS card (essential)

Excellent communication and organisational skills

Ability to work independently and influence site teams

Desirable

Experience on highways, utilities, structures, or heavy civils projects
