Full‑time

When you join Turnitin, you'll be welcomed into a company that is a recognized innovator in the global education space. For more than 25 years, Turnitin has partnered with educational institutions to promote honesty, consistency, and fairness across all subject areas and assessment types. Turnitin products are used by educational institutions and certification and licensing programs to uphold integrity and increase learning performance, and by students and professionals to do their best, original work.

Experience a remote‑first culture that empowers you to work with purpose and accountability in a way that best suits you, supported by a comprehensive package that prioritizes your overall well‑being. Our diverse community of colleagues are all unified by a shared desire to make a difference in education.

Turnitin is a global organization with team members in over 35 countries including the United States, Mexico, United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, India, and the Philippines.

As a Senior Collection Specialist at Turnitin, you will be responsible for driving the efficiency, accuracy, and performance of our global cash collection activities. You will take ownership of complex customer accounts, performing high‑level reconciliations, resolving unapplied cash issues, and leading escalations related to overdue balances and disputed billings.

With deep expertise in cash application processes, customer payment behaviour, and debt recovery strategies, you will be key in enabling the business to meet its cashflow and working capital targets. You will also play a crucial role in identifying root causes behind collection challenges and driving continuous improvements to collection policies and processes.

You will proactively collaborate with cross‑functional teams — including Sales, Customer Success, Tax, and Revenue — to prevent and resolve billing exceptions and customer disputes.

You will also mentor junior team members, support continuous improvement initiatives, and contribute to the evolution of our global billing framework to effectively scale with the business.

Responsibilities
  • Lead cash collection activities for high‑value, high‑volume and strategic global accounts, ensuring timely receipt and allocation of payments
  • Perform detailed cash and customer account reconciliations, resolving unapplied cash, unidentified receipts, and aged balances
  • Act as the senior escalation point for complex customer payment queries, collaborating closely with Sales, Customer Success, Billing, Tax, and Legal teams
  • Analyse AR aging, DSO performance, and customer payment behaviour to identify risk areas and drive targeted recovery actions
  • Engage with customers directly on disputed invoices and commercial queries, negotiating solutions while enforcing contract and payment terms
  • Conduct daily reviews of multiple global bank accounts, ensuring accurate and timely bank reconciliations
  • Prepare month‑end AR reporting linked to cash collection performance, credit risk, and account resolutions
  • Strengthen internal controls surrounding cash application, collections workflows, and exception handling
  • Build strong working relationships with regional teams to navigate cultural, currency, and regulatory differences in global collections
  • Proactively recommend improvements to collection efficiency, data quality, and financial transparency
  • Support and contribute to cross‑functional AR transformation initiatives and wider Finance projects when needed (e.g., automation, SOP enhancements, systems improvements)
Qualifications
  • Proven senior‑level experience in cash collections, dispute resolution, and complex reconciliations within a global environment
  • Advanced skills in cash allocation across multiple currencies, entities, and banking platforms
  • Clear and confident communicator — able to influence outcomes with customers and internal stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and investigative mindset
  • Ability to work autonomously while coaching and supporting others where required
  • Highly organised, with strong prioritisation in a fast‑paced environment
  • Change‑positive with a strong sense…
