Cardiothoracic Services – Advanced Clinical Pharmacist
Due to internal promotion, we are looking for a highly motivated individual to join the Cardiothoracic Services team based at Freeman Hospital.
Job Purpose- To organise and develop clinical pharmacy services within agreed clinical area.
- To undertake an agreed prescribing role within agreed clinical area.
- To participate in the provision of clinical and patient services functions.
- To promote the safe, rational and cost effective use of medicines by working closely with nursing and medical staff and health care managers.
- To perform the professional role of a registered pharmacist, including advice, supervision and co-operation with colleagues, particularly in relation to support/cover for absent colleagues.
- Lead and strategically develop the clinical pharmacy service to Adult Cardiothoracic Services across the Trust.
- Provide clinical pharmacy provision to adult cardiac and respiratory wards/areas.
- Liaise with the board regarding the safe and effective use of medicines, including audit, cost-improvement plans and governance, including guideline production.
- Training, support and supervision of junior staff, both in pharmacy and within the directorate.
- Manage a small number of staff and support the team in their roles, including learning and development, and managing the team to ensure appropriate service provision.
- Actively involved in teaching commitments and opportunities to be involved with pharmacy and medical undergraduate teaching.
- Support clinical boards, answer medication related queries and oversee the access to medicines used in the clinical areas.
- Lead on clinical audit and research within your clinical area and support education and training of the Pharmacy team and the wider MDT.
- Participate in the 7 day clinical service (including operational commitments to the inpatient services) and support late night and weekend dispensary services on a rota basis.
- Dynamic, motivated and enthusiastic team-player, with a sound knowledge of the area and significant clinical experience in cardiothoracic services.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Advanced clinical pharmacist with a clinical diploma supervisor, Foundation Trainee Pharmacist mentor or Designated prescribing practitioner experience.
