Job Responsibilities

Provide legal advice and support to various departments within the council.

Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents and contracts.

Represent the council in legal proceedings and at tribunals.

Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

Collaborate with external legal partners when necessary.

Person Specifications

Must Have:

Qualified solicitor with a valid practicing certificate.

Experience in local government law or public sector legal work.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice to Have:

Experience with NEPO systems and procedures.

Familiarity with the Newcastle area and its legal landscape.

Additional specializations in specific areas of law
