Quality Assurance Manager – Pet Food ManufacturingLocation: Penrith
Employment Type: Full-time
We are an established pet food manufacturer committed to producing safe, high-quality products that meet both regulatory and customer expectations. We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to lead and continuously improve our quality and food safety systems.
About the RoleAs the QA Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of quality assurance and food safety across the site. You will work closely with production, operations, suppliers, and customers to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and to drive a strong food safety culture.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and improve the Quality Management System (QMS)
- Collect and Verify the Quality Management System (QMS)
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations
- Lead HACCP / Food Safety programs and internal audits
- Manage product specifications, labels, and claims
- Oversee raw material and finished product quality, including supplier approvals
- Manage non-conformances, corrective actions, and customer complaints
- Co-ordinate third-party audits and regulatory inspections
- Review and trend QA data, test results, and KPIs
- Train and support production staff in quality and food safety requirements
- Lead, mentor, and develop the production staff
- Inspection of physical stock when required
- Preparing samples and submission forms for microbial and chemical testing samples as per FICA (Food Import Compliance Agreement) schedule
- Working with key stakeholders to document and establish procedures, standards, systems and SOPs to ensure best quality practice
- Degree in Food Science, Animal Science, or a related field (preferred)
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in QA within food or pet food manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of food safety systems (HACCP, GMP, risk assessments)
- Experience with pet food regulations and export requirements highly regarded
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills
- Strong communication and leadership abilities
- Ability to work cross-functionally and drive continuous improvement
- Excellent communication skills written and verbal
- Demonstration of ability to work well with all staff across the business
