Overview
We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for Sonographers who would like to join our friendly, passionate and supportive team. You will be recruited on a development pathway (AfC band 6‑7 depending on knowledge, experience and skill set). After achieving all required competencies and working autonomously as a Band 7 Sonographer, you will receive a recruitment and retention bonus of 7 % per annum.
You will be based at the Newmarket Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC), a brand‑new centre equipped with state‑of‑the‑art equipment in a bright, spacious and welcoming setting. The CDC delivers X‑Ray, CT, MRI and US imaging services, with additional Echo and lung function services. We invite potential applicants to visit this highly rated facility.
This is an exciting time to join the West Suffolk Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, with staff participating in the planning of our new hospital (Future Systems Programme). We work closely with other hospitals within our Integrated Care System (ICS) and engage with regional Trusts within local Imaging Networks.

Responsibilities- Self‑motivated, diligent and committed to providing excellent patient care in community settings.
- Obtain high‑quality ultrasound images and produce diagnostic reports.
- Work autonomously at the Level of a Band 7 Sonographer when competencies are met.
- Meeting all essential criteria in the person specification for Sonographer positions.
- Current qualification and registration to practise as a sonographer within the NHS.
- Flexible working: full and part‑time hours considered to provide an 08:00 – 20:00 7‑day service in the near future.
- Development pathway with AfC band 6‑7 and recruitment/retention bonus of 7 % per annum.
