STS Aviation Services is hiring a Production Assistant to support our Base Maintenance operation in Newquay. This role sits within the Check Management Team and plays a critical part in maintaining accurate control of man-hour budgets across all maintenance projects.
Working closely with Check Managers, Zonal Leads, and Customer Liaison Engineers, the Production Assistant supports task card hour tracking, labour booking accuracy, and real-time forecasting. The work performed in this role directly impacts project efficiency, cost control, and on-time aircraft delivery.
KeyDuties & Responsibilities
- Ensure each engineer has the correct task card bookings assigned daily, aligned to actual hours worked
- Monitor live man-hour bookings throughout each shift and provide continuous updates to Zonal Leads and Check Managers as task card hours near completion
- Forecast potential overruns early and expedite concerns promptly to the Check Manager and Customer Liaison Representative
- Input clear and accurate comments on overrun task cards, providing justification where additional hours are required
- Adjust engineer bookings as approved by the Check Manager or Zonal Leads, ensuring all changes remain fully traceable
- Notify the Customer Liaison Representative of any O&A (Over & Above) task cards requiring customer approval for additional hours
- Attend daily progress meetings with the Customer Liaison Representative, providing up-to-date task card and project budget information
- Previous experience in a production environment preferred but not essential
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment with flexibility to meet changing operational requirements
- Strong organisational and interpersonal skills
- Clear and effective communication skills
- Full UK driving licence required
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
- Ability to report accurately in line with agreed business needs
- Reports into and is accountable to the Operations department
- Working hours determined by business requirements
- Flexibility in working hours may be required
- Data accuracy is critical to the success of this role
- Ability to move between projects as operational needs change
- Leave requests must be submitted in line with company policy and approved by the Operations department
- Percentage of labour bookings entered correctly and on time
- Timeliness and accuracy in identifying and escalating potential task card overruns
- O&A task cards communicated to the Customer Liaison Engineer before exceeding allocated hours
