Carlingford Lodge Care Home is situated in the beautiful port town of Warrenpoint, located at the head of Carlingford Lough, just five miles south from the city of Newry. It provides nursing care for 58 residents over 3 Units:
General Nursing, Dementia Nursing and a General Residential. The Home Manager welcomes the residents with her team of professional nurses and carers aided by an administrator and ancillary support from housekeeping, catering and maintenance personnel.
The General Assistant role at Healthcare Ireland is a blended role, working with the Housekeeping and Kitchen team to assist with the day-to-day operations of the Home. The General Assistants in our Homes play a key role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of our kitchens, housekeeping and laundry functions, ensuring that residents receive high-quality meals and have a clean environment.
The role is essential in the wellbeing of our residents through the provision of high-quality, person-centred surroundings.
- Ensure the expected standards are achieved throughout the home
- Cover domestic, kitchen and laundry duties; training in all 3 areas provided
- Identify and report any damage, faults or other issues to maintenance or management
- Adhere to the cleaning and auditing schedule
- Use and store cleaning products in accordance with COSHH regulations
- Undertake any other duties that may be reasonably required as designated by the Home Manager

- To be numerate and literate with a good standard of English
- The Right to Work in the UK
- Have basic knowledge of COSHH, Health and Safety, Fire and Security Regulations
- Previous experience in a relevant role
- Relevant work experience in a care home/ healthcare environment
- Previous experience gained in a domestic, laundry or kitchen environment
