Registered Home Manager, Defence Business Services

A fixed-term appointment (23 months) as an IPPH – Registered Home Manager at the Ilford Park Polish Home. The role involves leading a team of approx. 100 staff and providing person-centred support to 50 residents. The position is based in Newton Abbot, Devon.

Job Description

This is a fixed‑term appointment. The successful candidate will lead a team of approximately 100 directly employed and subcontracted staff and ensure high quality care and support within the Health and Social Care Act. You will:

  • Lead and inspire staff to meet the required standards under the Health and Social Care Act – the duty of candour, deprivation of liberty, mental capacity legislation etc.
  • Build strong relationships with residents, families and the wider community.
  • Ensure health and safety, manage facilities, oversee income and expenditure, and demonstrate value for money.
  • Deliver the Services at Ilford Park which is rated “Good” by the Care Quality Commission.
Person Specification
  • Good character and competently able to meet Regulation 7 of the Health and Social Care Act.
  • Fit Person Interview with the Care Quality Commission, enhanced DBS and Adults Barred List checks.
  • Responsible for overall health and safety and facilities management contracts.
  • Strong leadership experience and ability to manage a large workforce.
  • Prioritised person‑centred care and expertise in dementia care.
  • Experience working with older people requiring care and support.
  • Top‑line skills in recruitment, staff development and budgeting.
  • Experience in a Care Quality Commission regulated setting.
The application should show
  • Relevant experience in management, particularly with older people and dementia.
  • Experience in a CQC regulated service.
Qualifications

A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care (or equivalent nursing/social work/occupational therapy qualification, or a degree/master’s in social care).

Benefits

Salary of £61,630, plus £17,854 contribution to the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme. Flexible working Monday‑Friday (25 days paid annual leave, increasing to 30 days after 5 years). 8 public holidays plus King’s birthday leave, hybrid working where role permits, reward & recognition, family‑friendly policies (parental, adoption), learning and development, inclusion and diversity culture. Minimum 15 days special leave for volunteer reserve commitments and special paid leave to volunteer up to 6 days/year.

28.97% employer contribution to the civil service pension.

Allowances

Relocation expenses are not offered. The Department is reviewing all pay‑related allowances that may apply.
