Ad-hoc Class 1 and Class 2 HGV Drivers - Early Morning Trunk Runs

Driver Hire/dh Recruitment (Torbay) is looking for flexible and reliable Class 1 and Class 2 HGV Drivers to support a range of clients across South Devon. These assignments involve early morning trunk runs with straightforward routes and consistent start times. Work is offered on an ad-hoc basis, ideal for drivers wanting extra shifts, variable hours, or flexibility around other commitments.

Various locations across South Devon, including Torquay, Paignton, Newton Abbot, Totnes, Plymouth, South Brent and Kingsbridge.

• £16.81 to £21.01 per hour (PAYE Advance).
• Other pay models are available.
• Weekly pay and a guaranteed minimum of 8 hours per shift.

• Complete trunk runs using Class 1 or Class 2 vehicles.
• Early morning starts, typically between 02:00 and 06:00.
• Transport goods safely between depots, RDCs or hubs.
• Carry out walk‑around checks and operate in full legal compliance.
• Maintain accurate paperwork and communication.
• Represent both Driver Hire and the client professionally.

• Valid Class 1 (Cat C+E) or Class 2 (Cat
  
  C) licence.
• CPC qualification.
• Digital Tachograph card.
• Maximum of 6 penalty points (no DR, DD or IN).
• Good understanding of Drivers' Hours and Working Time Regulations.
• Reliable and punctual.

• Previous trunking experience.
• Ability to take short‑notice bookings.
