Quality Engineer
Location:
Newtownabbey, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom
Job Purpose:
Maintains quality standards by approving incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products, recording quality results. The Quality function is embedded in all areas of CDE, allowing the successful candidate to build deep knowledge of our product, suppliers, customers and operational support functions.
- Adhere to company safety policies and procedures at all times.
- Approve incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
- Approve in-process production by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and communicating required adjustments to production supervisors.
- Approve finished products by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, returning products for re‑work, and confirming re‑work.
- Document inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarise re‑work and waste; input data into the quality database (IFS).
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
- Drive root‑cause corrective action and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support the development, implementation and training of policies and procedures.
- Coordinate non‑conformance reports (NCRs) through to satisfactory closure.
- Coordinate ISO documentation and procedures.
- Adhere to CDE policy and practice.
- Carry out any other duties within reason and capability associated with this role.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar quality role.
- GCSE level in Mathematics and English.
- Proven organisational skills with the ability to plan, organise and control daily workload.
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Attentiveness to detail.
- Weld inspection experience.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience of quality processes.
- Paint inspection experience.
- Technical qualification relevant to the role.
