Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Analytics Engineer with expertise in Looker and Google Big Query to join our data team. This role will focus on building scalable data models, optimizing SQL queries, and creating insightful dashboards and reporting solutions that empower business stakeholders to make data-driven decisions.

Job Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain LookML models in Looker to enable robust self-service analytics
Build reusable, scalable data pipelines and transformations in Big Query
Partner with business stakeholders to translate reporting requirements into efficient data models and visualizations
Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and performance optimization across dashboards and queries
Implement centralized metrics and definitions for consistent business reporting
Work with cross-functional teams (data engineering, product, business) to align data models with business needs
Monitor and troubleshoot Looker dashboards, Big Query performance issues, and data pipeline failures
Stay current with industry best practices in modern BI, analytics engineering, and cloud data platforms

Basic Qualifications:

Proven 5+ years of experience as an Analytics Engineer, BI Developer, or Data Analyst with strong technical ownership
Advanced proficiency in SQL (preferably Google Big Query)
Hands-on experience with Looker (LookML, Explores, Views, PDTs, user permissions)
Strong understanding of data modeling principles (star schema, snowflake schema, slowly changing dimensions)

Experience with data warehousing concepts and modern cloud data platforms (preferably GCP)
Ability to optimize SQL queries and Looker Explores for performance and scalability
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with large, complex datasets
Excellent communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with version control (Git) and collaborative LookML development
Familiarity with dbt (data build tool) for transformation modeling
Knowledge of other BI/visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) is a plus
Understanding of ETL/ELT pipelines and orchestration tools (Airflow, Cloud Composer)
