Key Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility for a designated group of patients and provides care utilizing the nursing process, current nursing trends, and available resources.
• Prepares the OR suite with necessary supplies, equipment, medications, and other required materials prior to each procedure.
• Performs patient verification using two identifiers, conducts timeouts upon suite entry, prior to incision, and prior to exiting the OR suite, and transports patients safely to and from the OR table.
• Appropriately positions and preps patients for procedures utilizing positional aides and established guidelines.
• Supports the surgical team throughout procedures by responding to requests for supplies, blood, specimens, cultures, medications, dressings, and other needs.
• Transports patients to PACU or the appropriate unit and provides a thorough handoff report to the receiving RN.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years of relevant nursing experience.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or higher.
• Active Illinois RN License in good standing.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Experience in an acute care or surgical hospital setting.
