Project Engineer – Water Industry
We are recruiting a Project Engineer for our Water Consultancy business. Your role will involve providing technical leadership and guidance to a project team focused on delivering water quality solutions, ensuring accurate, efficient project delivery in terms of quality, time, and budget.
About YouYou will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of water project experts on a range of capital delivery projects. Your ability to manage, communicate, and drive a high-performance culture will be critical.
Your Responsibilities- Manage a project team to deliver work to clients.
- Provide guidance and support to less experienced colleagues.
- Present ideas and solutions clearly and concisely to senior team members.
- Meet all responsibilities as outlined in the RPS HSE policy and management systems.
- Participate in and/or lead training and safety initiatives implemented by RPS.
- Be responsible for the delivery of multiple water quality projects in accordance with project objectives and client standards.
- Take responsibility for delivery of a large project and programmes of work including:
- Feasibility studies / options development.
- Scoping surveys and scheduling of work for survey teams and liaison during the projects.
- Plan and review intervention designs and delivery.
- Manage and review reporting process.
- Proactively engage with stakeholders.
- Action any changes that impact projects agreed between the framework manager and the client.
- Significant experience in an engineering background at a consultancy, water company or regulator.
- Good understanding of the water industry, regulatory frameworks, and water networks.
- Ability to apply current engineering practice and stay up to date with engineering best practice.
- Experience in resource utilisation management relating to project delivery management.
- Pragmatic view to enhance service delivery.
- Proven record of supporting delivery of programmes of work to time, cost and quality, managing change control, strategic risk and opportunities.
- Preferred experience in discipline‑specific network applications.
- Ability to manage and manipulate large datasets, including time series data.
- Experience with GIS software (Map Info, ArcGIS, QGIS).
- Preferably a degree in a relevant technical subject; postgraduate qualifications are an advantage.
- Chartership or working towards chartership for Senior or Principal grades.
- Affiliation with a professional institution (IET, InstMC, CIWEM) or in process of membership.
- Proficient in MS 365 applications.
