As part of this ambition, we are responsible for managing and maintaining the outside environment to ensure North Tyneside is a great place to live work and visit. Environmental Services include waste collections, grounds maintenance and street cleansing.
Our waste collection team are responsible for collecting and disposing of waste and recycling from over 103,000 properties across the Borough.
As we expand our waste collection offer to include food waste collections from 2026, we’re looking for enthusiastic individuals to join the waste collection team.
As part of the role, you will be required to drive a heavy goods refuse vehicle to collect waste and recyclables from businesses, schools and residential properties from across the Borough and ensure its correct disposal at appropriate locations.
The successful candidateWe are looking for a highly motivated, flexible individual who has good communication and interpersonal skills with a positive approach to teamwork and co‑operation. You will need to be solution focused, organised and work in accordance with appropriate health and safety guidance and legislation, and operating procedures.
As this position is part of our frontline service operating across the Borough, you must be able to walk for prolonged periods of time and carry out lifting and handling on a regular basis.
