About the PositionThe overall responsibility of the rack management laboratory assistant includes the organization of the sample solution storage room and independently performing laboratory techniques to aid in the analyses of geological samples.
Responsibilities- Maintain the timely storage and disposal of sample solutions for the department.
- Carry out all required record‑keeping and documentation.
- Prepare instrument solutions and sample dilutions as directed.
- Prioritize workload to meet production targets and turnaround time.
- Prepare instrument batches.
- Update priority/rush lists.
- Assist in maintaining production records.
- Use safe work practices to perform tasks.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and quality procedures and guidelines.
- Follow all working instructions and SOPs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Lab Manager.
- Organized, highly motivated, detail‑oriented.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and mechanical skills.
- Capable of managing workflow in a time‑efficient and quality‑conscious manner.
- Ability to troubleshoot as needed.
- Quality‑focused individuals.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong MS Office skills, specifically MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
- High school completion or equivalent required.
- Some post‑secondary chemistry courses preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year laboratory experience in analytical chemistry or related field preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for up to 7.5 hours per day.
- Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks.
- ALS operates 24/7 and will require day, afternoon, and graveyard shift work including weekends.
- An estimated hourly pay of $20.97 CAD at the time of posting. Individual compensation is determined by factors such as job‑related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training.
