We are excited to invite applications for the role of Firearms Licensing Administration Officer to join North Yorkshire Police.

As a Firearms Licensing Administration Officer, you will play a key role in delivering an efficient and effective Firearms Licensing Service across the North Yorkshire Police area. You will handle office duties and telephone enquiries promptly and accurately, ensuring the highest standards of professionalism are maintained.
With a sustained period of high demand ahead, your main responsibilities will include:
- Processing the renewal and granting of firearm and shotgun certificates.
- Conducting research using Police intelligence and other systems to assess applicant suitability.
In everything you do, you will prevent foreseeable or avoidable harm, manage risk and act decisively, and ensure that decisions are proportionate and timely. You will help us provide a fair, rigorous, transparent, and consistent service to the public, maintaining trust and confidence in our processes.

To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following requirements:- Have experience in office administration, with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Be able to show analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organisation skills and be able to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Be able to work unsupervised and on your own initiative, managing your own time, whilst also remaining part of a team.
- Have strong customer service skills.
- Internal applicants must have successfully completed their probation period.
- Meet residency requirements for vetting:
- RV Level Vetting – minimum 3 years UK residency
- Previous firearms experience is advantageous.
- Experience of the National Firearms Licensing Management System (NFLMS).
