About the roleAs an Environmental Health Officer within the Environmental Protection team, you will investigate complaints related to noise and other statutory nuisances, carry out public health duties including pest control and drainage issue investigations, enforce legislation related to private water supplies, conduct licensing and enforcement inspections for caravans, and respond to consultations from licensing and planning departments.

- Conduct licensing and enforcement inspections for caravans
- Respond to consultations from licensing and planning departments
- Degree in Environmental Health (BSc or MSc)
- Registered Environmental Health Officer with the Environmental Health Registration Board and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health
- Experience working within Environmental Health and managing conflict and complaints both informally and formally
- Knowledge of current environmental health legislation and practice, relationship with other public agencies, Police and Criminal Evidence Act and experience of court proceedings
- High level of investigative, analytical and interpretative skills and ability to make fast‑paced decisions based on evidence presented within an ever‑changing environment
- Understanding of the political context and ability to operate sensitively and efficiently within a political environment
- Confident communicator with strong report‑writing and analytical skills, able to work independently and manage a varied and busy caseload
