Overview
Digital Forensics Technical Manager – Digital Forensics Lab, CACI Digital Experience (formerly Cyber‑Duck). Lead the technical direction of the Digital Forensics Laboratory (DFL), oversee accreditation, quality management, and service delivery while supporting business development and external representation.
Responsibilities- Provide technical leadership and serve as the principal technical authority for the DFL, ensuring alignment with accreditation requirements (ISO/IEC 17025, ISO/IEC 17043, and industry best practices).
- Lead accreditation and assessment activities, ensuring compliance with UK standards, the Forensic Science Regulator’s code of practice, and ILAC G19.
- Collaborate with Operations and Quality Management to design, maintain, and improve laboratory environments, infrastructure, and technical infrastructure.
- Oversee technical management of Digital Forensic Investigation and Proficiency Testing schemes, monitor service delivery, and maintain service level agreements.
- Procure, install, configure, and manage equipment, software, and systems required for DFL services.
- Support sales and business development teams in tendering, securing contracts, and representing DFL externally to enhance reputation and promote services.
- Assess and support the technical competence of DFL staff, ensuring resilience and quality assurance.
- Contribute to continual improvement of the QMS through updates to procedures, validation activities, audits, corrective and preventive actions, and quality control.
- Deputise for the Laboratory Management Team during periods of absence, ensuring continuity of leadership and operational oversight.
- Perform horizon scanning and research into emerging digital forensic methods, tools, risks, and opportunities; attend conferences and training to maintain industry leadership.
- Degree level in Computer Science, Digital Forensics, or significant experience in technical leadership within an accredited digital forensic environment.
- Advanced knowledge of operating systems, file systems, applications, networking technologies, and forensic hardware and software tools.
- Experience managing large and complex digital investigations, preparing detailed examination reports, and presenting digital evidence in court proceedings.
- In-depth understanding of accreditation standards (ISO/IEC 17025, ISO/IEC 17043), proficiency testing, inter‑laboratory comparison, and forensic science regulatory codes.
- Knowledge of criminal law, judicial processes, and relevant legislation.
- Current UK / European driving licence and willingness to travel for business purposes.
- Willingness to work flexibly, participate in an out‑of‑hours call‑out rota, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills.
