The RoleAn existing opportunity exists for an ambitious individual to join our growing team based in North Yorkshire. The role will develop your skills and provide accredited Digital Forensic Investigation and Proficiency Testing services within the Law Enforcement Sector.
- Utilise digital forensic equipment to capture, process and analyse data within an accredited laboratory environment or at scene/client locations.
- Produce high‑quality forensic reports and statements containing findings and present evidence in court.
- Assist in the operation of CACI’s digital forensic proficiency testing services: preparing test items, collecting, examining and evaluating completed test devices, and producing reports.
- Work in compliance with departmental and organisational policies and standards (ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 17025, ISO/IEC 17043, Forensic Science Regulators Code of Practice, ILAC G19).
- Contribute to the continual improvement of the quality management system (QMS) and assist with quality and technical compliance activities.
- Perform administrative duties related to digital forensic activities, including collection and delivery tasks, and support the upkeep of the laboratory’s technical infrastructure.
- Complete training and achieve/maintain all competencies defined for the role of Digital Forensic Analyst.
- Develop digital forensic laboratory services and capabilities through environmental horizon scanning, R&D into forensic methods, tools and opportunities.
- Attend conferences and training to maintain CACI’s leadership in digital forensics services and emerging issues.
- Education to, or working toward, a degree in digital forensics, computer science or a related discipline, or experience in a digital forensic laboratory or policing environment.
- Knowledge and experience of common operating systems, file systems (Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, Linux) and related applications and networking technologies.
- Experience of conducting digital forensic processes with a range of hardware and software tools, applications and techniques.
- Understanding of established principles and best practices, including ISO/IEC 17043, ISO/IEC 17025, the Forensic Science Regulators Code of Practice, ILAC G19 and other relevant guidance documents.
- Full current UK/European driving licence and willingness to travel for work purposes.
- British passport holder and lived permanently in the UK for the last five years to qualify for security clearance.
- The role may involve exposure to material of an extremely offensive and distressing nature.
- Occasional travel to perform digital forensic work at scenes or locations outside the laboratory, involving overnight stays.
- Ability to cope working under pressure and time constraints in a challenging environment.
- Agility and coordination in handling equipment and evidence; may be required to lift a variety of computer items and sit/stand for extended periods.
