Purchase Ledger Permanent based in Northampton NN6
Job Purpose :We are seeking a diligent and detail‑oriented Purchase Ledger Clerk to join our growing finance team. This is an exciting opportunity within a small but expanding business where you’ll play a key role in managing accounts payable and supporting broader financial and administrative functions. The role offers flexibility in both hours and responsibilities with the potential to evolve for the right candidate.
MainDuties and Responsibilities :
- Maintain accurate records of all purchase invoices and payments.
- Process accounts payable transactions promptly and in accordance with company policies.
- Reconcile supplier statements, investigate discrepancies and ensure timely resolution.
- Assist in preparing financial reports related to purchases and expenditures.
- Collaborate with other departments to support efficient procurement and payment processes.
- Utilise accounting software to manage and report on financial transactions.
- Support the finance team with general administrative and ad‑hoc tasks as required.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to liaise professionally with suppliers and colleagues.
- A proactive, flexible and positive attitude to working within a small dynamic team.
- Willingness to take on additional duties as needed in a small business environment.
- Proven experience in a purchase ledger or accounts payable role.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications (Excel essential).
- Sound understanding of general accounting principles and financial procedures.
- Previous experience in a small business environment is desirable but not essential.
- Monday – Friday
