The Clinical Engineering (CE) Department is responsible for the management and maintenance of the Trust's wide range of specialist medical equipment under certified ISO 9001 and 13485 quality systems. It undertakes development projects, research support, and provides a comprehensive service for the selection, purchase and management of equipment as well as interfacing medical equipment to information systems working closely with the Information Technology department.
You will participate in the full range of the clinical engineering activities at the Royal Brompton Hospital and Harefield Hospitals Sites but mainly at Harefield Hospital site.
This is an established band 6 position. Enthusiastic candidates with less experience may be able to join under Annex 21 arrangement, whereby to train and develop into a full specialist Band 6 technologist within 1 to 2 years (see agenda for change pay scales). This could be an ideal position for new graduates to join the team under Annex 21 arrangement.
You will ultimately specialise in one or more of the advanced medical equipment areas, such as intensive care ventilation, anaesthetic systems, diagnostic ultrasound, infusion systems or interfaced medical equipment. As part of the Clinical Engineering Team, you will participate in the full range of equipment management services provided by Clinical Engineering at the Harefield Hospital providing a comprehensive service for the selection, purchase and management of equipment, as well as participating in development projects and research support.
Youshould be:
- Qualified to at least degree level in a technical or scientific subject
A skilled communicator experienced at dealing with internal/external, technical and clinical staff
Highly motivated and able to work safely under pressure
- Experience of working in a hospital environment or other technical or engineering experience
- Experience of working under an ISO 9001 or ISO
13485 quality systems - Experience of a wide range of medical equipment
