Job Description & How to Apply Below

NXTGEN is delighted to be working with a forward-thinking accountancy firm as they embark on an exciting period of growth and transformation. The firm is modernising the way they work by embracing flexibility, innovation, and a people-first approach. They are now expanding their payroll team with a brand-new Payroll Assistant role. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a firm that is shaping the future of accountancy while being part of an energised and ambitious team.

This is not your typical payroll role. As a Payroll Assistant, you will gain hands-on experience working across a diverse portfolio of clients, supporting end-to-end payroll services, and helping ensure everything runs smoothly and accurately. With the firm on such an exciting upward trajectory, you will benefit from ongoing training, clear progression opportunities, and the chance to broaden your skill set.

You will be joining a supportive and friendly team that truly cares about the service they provide and the people they work with. It is a collaborative and positive environment that celebrates success and makes coming into work genuinely enjoyable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing end to end payroll for a portfolio of clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Assisting with payroll queries and statutory deductions, including PAYE and pensions
  • Building strong client relationships and providing excellent service
  • Working with the wider team to help improve processes and efficiencies

What the client is looking for:

  • Some experience in payroll processing, ideally within an accountancy practice or bureau
  • Familiarity with payroll software such as Sage Payroll or Xero Payroll
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise confidently with clients and colleagues
  • A proactive, adaptable mindset and willingness to learn and grow within the firm

If you're looking for a role that offers real variety, development opportunities, flexibility, and a supportive team environment, this is one of the best payroll opportunities in Norwich right now. For more details, please get in touch with Annie.
