Consultant in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine

The Jenny Lind Children's Hospital, NNUH, isseeking one substantive 10PA consultant inpaediatric respiratory medicine. The successfulappointee will help shape the developments ofthis well-established unit and support the East of England CF network and regional respiratoryservices. The post comprises of 10PA of which 1.5

SPA and 8.5PAs of clinical work. The clinical workwill include specialized cystic fibrosis and respiratory work, and some general Paediatricacute work.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will work with colleagues in paediatric respiratory medicine, paediatric medicine, surgery, and neonatology to provide respiratory support to inpatients and outpatients in the Jenny Lind Children Hospital. They will collaborate with colleagues at CUH to develop closer clinical, research and training links, as lead centres within the regional Paediatric Respiratory and Cystic Fibrosis services. NNUH is a recognised specialist centre for Cystic Fibrosis.

The appointee will provide inpatient and outpatient care for patients with respiratory disease.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Full GMC
  • MRCPCH or equivalent
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via: o CCT in paediatrics OR Equivalent (Proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview).
  • Higher degree such as MD, MSc or PhD.
  • CCT in respiratory paediatrics
Experience
  • Applicants who are Nationals from another European country or elsewhere overseas would have to show equivalence to the 5 years training period in the National Health Service required for the specialty.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and commitment to a career in paediatric respiratory medicine.
  • 2 years paediatric respiratory training or experience in a tertiary centre (candidates with GRID/SPIN or equivalent are encouraged to apply).
  • Competent at management of inpatients and outpatients with respiratory conditions or CF
  • EPLS or APLS certification
  • Training to level 3 safeguarding and experience of safeguarding at Specialist Registrar or Consultant level.
  • Expertise in CF
  • Recent experience with CFTR modulating therapy.
  • Experience in sleep studies.

Teaching
  • Experience of formal and on the job clinical teaching
