We’re recruiting a Project Support Engineer to join the senior engineering team at an innovative industrial facility currently moving through the commissioning phase into steady-state operation.
This role offers the chance to support a cutting-edge pilot plant within a growing sector, working across operations, maintenance, and project coordination in a hands-on environment.
You’ll play a key part in supporting day-to-day technical activity, troubleshooting engineering challenges, ensuring documentation stays up to date, and helping the wider project team maintain safe and efficient progress.
Key Responsibilities of the Project Support Engineer include:
* Support day-to-day commissioning tasks and assist with early operational activities.
* Help troubleshoot technical issues and monitor plant performance to identify improvements.
* Coordinate planned and reactive maintenance, liaising with contractors where needed.
* Review and update technical documentation such as P&IDs, layouts and schematics.
* Assist with project tasks including reporting, scheduling, procurement and cross-team communication.
Requirements
* NVQ Level 3 / HNC or equivalent in mechanical or electrical engineering.
* Experience in industrial or process environments (e.g. energy systems, manufacturing, plant operations).
* Strong awareness of health and safety and ability to apply it in practical settings.
* Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
* Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
Desirable Experience
* Previous involvement in commissioning activities or early-stage operational ramp-up.
* Experience in energy, process plant, or emerging industrial technologies.
* Familiarity with maintenance systems or reliability principles.
What’s on Offer
* Competitive salary.
* This will initially be on a 3-month contract, with a strong likelihood of moving into a permanent role.
* Hands-on involvement in an innovative pilot project within a growing industry.
* Supportive working environment with experienced engineering leadership
