Location: Norwich
Salary: £30,000 to £35,000 per annum

Staffing Innovations is working with a superstar of an employer specialising in engineering and manufacturing in Norwich.

We are seeking a skilled CAD Designer with Solid Works to manage and maintain the Solid Works environment, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and user support.

The Solid Works Administrator/Draftsman will play a critical role in managing CAD systems, providing user support, and collaborating with engineering and IT teams to enhance processes. This includes developing and maintaining existing CAD data, building libraries of standard assemblies, and generating documentation such as exploded views and floor plans.

Rework Existing CAD Data (75%)
  • Build CAD assembly variations of existing designs to accommodate all build variations.
  • Manage existing designs to reflect all new change requirements.
  • Assist in controlling the number of new, obsolete, and unused parts.
  • Build crib sheets for specifications to assist various departments.
  • Generate floor plans for existing machines.
  • Generate exploded documentation for existing machines.
  • Build library parts.
  • Build superimposed models for master assemblies.
System Administration (5%)
  • Manage and maintain the Solid Works CAD environment, including installations and upgrades.
User Support (5%)
  • Provide technical support to Solid Works users, resolving issues with performance, data management, and workflows.
Customisation and Automation (5%)
  • Customise Solid Works settings, templates, and libraries to meet organisational needs.
  • Develop and implement macros, scripts, and add‑ons to automate tasks and boost productivity.
  • Work closely with engineering and IT teams to align CAD system functionality with project requirements.
  • Stay up to date on the latest Solid Works features, updates, and industry trends.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and user experience.
The Successful Candidate Will Have:
  • Proven experience as a Solid Works Administrator or similar role.
  • In‑depth knowledge of Solid Works, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Solid Works PDM and CAD data management systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and logical thinking.
  • Ability to carry out repetitive work to a high standard.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt.
Preferred:
  • Solid Works certifications (CSWA, CSWP, or CSWE).
  • Experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
