Overview
We are seeking a Senior Research Scientist to join a collaborative team studying xenobiotics‑gut microbiome interactions as well as developing precision microbiome intervention trials. The team focuses on advancing function‑based studies of prebiotics, drugs, and other xenobiotics with the gut microbiome and utilising microbiome assays in precision prebiotic intervention trials aimed at promoting healthy ageing.
Responsibilities- Work closely with a multidisciplinary group of researchers and design, develop, and apply innovative approaches for microbiome research.
- Lead the scientific direction of the lab and support the Group Leader with day‑to‑day running of the lab, including line management of staff and overseeing budgets.
- Coordinate and support microbiome laboratory experiments, including metaproteomics and bioinformatic analysis of data.
- PhD in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Expertise in laboratory‑based microbiome studies, metaproteomics, bioinformatics, and a strong background in metagenomics and metabolomics is desirable.
- Knowledge of experimental microbiology relevant to live microbiome studies and skill in bioinformatic data analysis.

Compensation & DetailsSalary: £45,450 – £56,750 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
Full‑time post available until 31 March 2028
