Homelessness Housing Officer
We are looking for a dedicated Homelessness Housing Officer to join our client. This is an exciting opportunity to provide excellent customer-focused services and support some of the most vulnerable members of our community. This role is full time until April however could be extended for the right candidate, you will need to have a full driving license and access to a car.
About the Role
- Manage allocations and lettings for empty homes in partnership with local authorities.
- Deliver tenancy management and anti-social behaviour services in line with policy and procedure.
- Work closely with support agencies to ensure tenancy sustainment and improve life opportunities for customers.
- Provide advice on welfare benefits and income maximisation to help tenants maintain their rent payments.
- Participate in multi-agency meetings and hold partners accountable for delivering support.
- Attend County Court hearings when necessary for tenancy enforcement.
What We're Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Understanding of housing legislation, tenancy agreements, and homelessness legislation.
- Experience in tenancy management and enforcement.
- Knowledge of welfare benefits and their impact on tenants.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with resilience to handle challenging situations.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies.
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs (including Maths & English at Grade C/Level 4 or equivalent).
- Full UK driving licence (travel across Norfolk required).
Desirable:
- CIH-approved housing qualification (or working towards one).
- Previous experience in the housing sector or as a Housing Officer.
- Understanding of the Housing First principle.
