The closing date is 21 January 2026
This post is for a Consultant Gynaecologist with urogynaecology and academic interest at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
Gynaecology commitments include elective and emergency gynaecology with participation out of hours on-call rota and gynaecology hot weeks. The post requires an interest and experience in urogynaecology. The post includes urogynaecology, pelvis after pregnancy/OASI and general gynaecology clinics. The job plan will also have theatre lists, vetting and advice and guidance commitments.
The successful candidate will provide academic and clinical support for the Maternity Improvement Programme in their efforts to reduce rates of Obstetric Anal Sphincter injuries. The successful candidate will have protected research time (0.4

Under the mentorship of Professor Kate Walker and in close collaboration with NCTU they will develop at least one grant application for a clinical trial in urogynaecology or general gynaecology. It is expected that after 12 months they will have expanded their academic CV sufficient to be able to apply for a Clinical Associate Professor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Nottingham.
The protected research time is only guaranteed for the first 12 months of the post.
Please see the job plan for a description of the clinical sessions. The balance of activities will be as described, but the scheduling may be amended, after discussion, prior to commencement of the post.
About usGynaecology is provided across three sites, at City Hospital, Queen's Medical Centre and the Nottingham Treatment Centre based at the QMC Campus. Our gynaecology service includes an accredited urogynaecology unit and a mesh removal service, reproductive medicine, benign and emergency gynaecology, and gynae oncology. As part of the development of Primary Integrated Care Services, gynaecology clinics are also held in primary care settings in the community supported by NUH gynaecologists.
There is a 2-tier gynaecology on-call rota, with the first consultant covering emergency gynaecology, and the second tier providing cover for complex surgery or obstetric major haemorrhage. This is in addition to the obstetric consultant on-call (one for each campus). The consultants on the complex surgery rota have the required surgical skills to undertake this role.
'NUH Life' is an HFEA-licenced fertility centre providing NHS- and self-funded fertility investigations and treatments in an outpatient setting within the QMC campus.
Our gynaecology service includes urogynaecology, reproductive medicine, benign and emergency gynaecology, and gynae oncology.
There are weekly consultant meetings (via MS Teams) and quarterly departmental meetings.
