We are recruiting to a 12 month Senior Clinical Fellow post in Organ Donation with Adult Critical Care at Nottingham University Hospitals from August 2026.

Eligibility:
It is open to all doctors who hold Full/limited registration with the GMC and who have completed a minimum of two years’ post Foundation training and who are in possession of either the Primary FRCA or equivalent (eg MRCP(UK), MRCEM).

One year of anaesthetics experience and three months of critical care experience is essential. The post suits doctors who wish to develop their CV prior to entering ST3 posts or as OOPE or before taking up a consultant post. Paid time is granted to develop an interest in organ donation. The appointee will cover adult critical care approximately 50% of the time.

Prior experience of working in the NHS is a prerequisite for this post.

Clinical – The successful applicant is expected to participate in on‑calls on the Senior (Airway) Critical Care Rota. This will take up 50% of the time. The remainder of the time will be devoted to developing a specialist interest in the named areas. The Senior (Airway) Critical Care rota doctor will be in charge of the other trainees and fellows out of hours under the leadership and support of the Duty Critical Care Consultant on‑call.

Clinical duties will be conducted at both the Queen’s Medical Centre and at the Nottingham City Hospital. Where possible, the post will be tailored to individual training needs. The post is EWTD compliant. It would be advisable that the appointee register with the College of their parent specialty and it would be good practice to keep a logbook of their experience.

The Clinical Fellows would be encouraged to undergo regular appraisal and to develop a learning plan and portfolio.

Other Responsibilities – 50% of the appointee’s time will be devoted to developing a specialist interest in Organ Donation. Prior to commencing the post, candidates who are pursuing an interest in organ donation or clinical research will be expected to have conceived of and planned a project in discussion with the appropriate supervisor. The expectation is that the project will be substantial and will be of sufficient quality for submission for publication or presentation at a national/international meeting.

• MB ChB or equivalent. Full/limited GMC registration.
• Successful completion of FY2 training in an NHS setting plus two years of post‑foundation training in acute specialities (Anaesthesia, Acute Medicine, Emergency Medicine or ICM).
• Primary FRCA or equivalent higher qualification ALS or equivalent accredited life support course ATLS or other trauma course.

• Twelve months’ Anaesthetics & three months’ Critical Care experience AND prior experience of NHS‑based anaesthetics or ICU experience.
