Marine Water Quality Officer

The Environment Agency is looking for a Marine Water Quality Officer to support evidence‑based decisions on marine water quality, modelling, and data analysis.

• Review reports and summarise key information for decision‑making.
• Interpret monitoring data and model outputs to support environmental protection.
• Use data to inform water quality models.
• Summarise and communicate technical work, escalating challenges when needed.
• Build strong relationships across a dispersed team and with external partners.
• Provide timely answers to technical questions and support technical specialists.
• Take part in incident response and incident management duties, with full training and support.
• Apply sound records‑management principles.

• Experience in data analysis and preferably knowledge of modelling software.
• Proficient in tools such as Excel, Access, R, Power BI, GIS, and specialist packages (e.g., Mike, Cormix).
• Strong communication skills – able to review complex reports and clearly communicate key issues to non‑technical audiences.
• Comfortable working in a virtual team; willingness to travel for occasional national meetings.
• Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline; pursuit of professional membership encouraged.
