The RoleThey are currently looking for a highly skilled Estimator to lead estimates for civil engineering works, adhering to the company's estimating systems and procedures. As an Estimator, you will collaborate with tender teams to develop customer solutions and secure projects that meet the company's objectives.
About youThe ideal candidate will have an engineering or commercial background with experience in water, construction, rail, and general steelwork. A proven track record of working on tenders ranging up to £2-3m is essential. You should be numerate and IT literate and familiar with estimating software. Chartered or incorporated status, or similar, is required. Confidence in dealing with customers and senior personnel within Structural Fabrications Ltd is important, along with the ability to ensure all tender submissions are both feasible and profitable.
Knowledge of waste, rail, or the tunnelling sector is desirable.
- Lead estimates and undertake estimates following company procedures.
- Lead a team of estimators for larger tenders, mentoring and developing junior estimators.
- Provide indicative pricing support for business development and obtain feedback from site teams on estimating adequacy and current costs.
- Close out actions and monitor customer negotiations, seeking amended authority as required.
- Prepare estimating handover packs, maintain notes of handover meetings, and provide ongoing support to site teams regarding estimates and key assumptions.
- Winning work to meet the company's objectives.
- Developing coherent and consistent tender submissions using key estimating assumptions.
- Developing a tender win strategy alongside business unit teams.
- Providing temporary works support for tenders and for the design element of design and construct tenders.
