Senior and Executive Finance - Home CountiesGroup Financial Controller – Private Equity Backed | Multi-Billion Turnover FMCG | £150,000 + Car + Bonus + LTIPs
I’m partnered with a high-growth, private equity backed FMCG group in the East Midlands (hybrid – 2 days per week on-site) to appoint a Group Financial Controller into a critical leadership role. This organisation is fast‑paced, complex, and operating at multi‑billion‑pound scale, offering an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious finance leader to make a significant strategic impact.
Responsibilities- Reporting directly to the Group CFO, this position will take full ownership of the Group’s financial control environment and lead a team of 30+ across Financial Control, Reporting, Tax, Treasury and Shared Services.
- Drive high‑quality financial governance, technical accounting and statutory reporting.
- Oversee robust month‑end and year‑end close processes.
- Lead and develop a large, high‑performing finance team.
- Strengthen controls, processes, systems and standardisation across the Group.
- Work closely with the CFO and support Board, PE investor and bank reporting.
- Manage audit relationships and external advisory interactions.
- Play a key role in transformation, systems improvement and M&A integration.
- A strong controllership background from either a large, complex PLC or a private equity‑backed environment.
- Experience operating at Group level within FMCG, consumer or other fast‑paced, multi‑site businesses.
- Excellent technical accounting expertise (ACA/CA qualified or equivalent).
- Demonstrated success leading sizeable teams (20–30+) within a complex, matrixed environment.
- Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder management abilities.
- The resilience, pace and gravitas required for a PE‑backed environment.
- Notice period of 1 or 2 months or less (this is essential due to business timelines).
- Can look at permanent and FTC options.
- £150,000 base salary, Car allowance, Bonus, LTIPs.
- Hybrid working with 2 days per week in the East Midlands HQ.
