Customs Specialist

Express Recruitment are delighted to be partnering with a dynamic business that operates in the B2B services sector, with offices on the outskirts of Nottingham city centre.

They are seeking a Customs Specialist to join their team, responsible for managing import and export shipments, ensuring compliance with customs regulations and coordinating with brokers, carriers, and internal teams. This is a busy and challenging role, operating on a 4-on, 4-off shift pattern, ideal for someone confident in handling customs processes across multiple transport modes.

In return, you can expect a competitive salary of £32k D.O.E, only 2 days per month in the office and a strong benefits package including 25 days annual leave plus statutory leave and life assurance scheme.

• Act as main contact for customs and customer queries during out-of-hours shifts
• Submit and track import/export entries, fixing issues to keep shipments on schedule
• Coordinate transport, check shipment documents, and communicate with carriers and suppliers
• Handle import clearances, duties, VAT, and compliance with customs rules
• Keep accurate records, monitor key metrics, and ensure smooth handovers

• Knowledge of UK customs processes across Air, Sea and Road
• Practical experience with Descartes, CDS and Destin8 systems
• Familiar with import/export and transit procedures
• Accurate, organized, and able to make confident decisions under pressure
• Proficient in Outlook, Word and Excel
