The Role

We are seeking an experienced Interim Transport & Commercial Director to drive immediate improvement across commercial performance, cost control, and transport operations within a multi-site waste and recycling business.

The role focuses on maximising commercial agreements, Transport operations performance and cost base management, not new business development. You will bring strong analytical capability, challenge established ways of working, and improve data-led decision making.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead commercial performance across feedstock, oil, and transport revenues
• Identify and address cost base improvement opportunities, margin erosion, and inefficiencies
• Optimise fleet and logistics performance using data and analytics
• Embed contribution margin analysis to assess waste profitability and site suitability
• Improve CRM and data consistency across commercial, finance, and operations
• Lead and influence established teams through change and restructuring
• Ensure compliance with sustainability criteria and environmental permitting requirements

About You

• Senior commercial or operational leader from the waste and recycling sector - Essential
• Strong understanding of logistics, and transport within a waste and recycling environment
• Highly analytical, hands-on, and comfortable making difficult decisions
• Credible, visible leader willing to travel regularly between sites
• Experience operating in regulated, compliance-driven environments

This is a delivery-focused interim role created to drive immediate change. Remote working is not suitable; on-site presence is essential.
