About the Team
We are a Family Help Team and work with a range of families including those in need of Family Help Assessment, Targeted Early Support, Children in Need, those who are on the Edge of Care or Child Protection and Court, and children in care until they have a plan of permanency outside of their parents care or with a plan of reunification home.
Our Family Help Team is multi‑agency with Family Support Worker, Family Practitioners, Social Workers, Systemic Consultants, PCSO's and soon NHS Nurse—all working together to meet the holistic needs of our families to reduce risk and keep families together.
Bedworth and Nuneaton Family Help Team are recruiting for the role of Consultant Social Worker within the Duty & Assessment Team
. You will need to have a minimum of 4 years post‑qualification and have experience of supervising students or mentoring colleagues.
- To assist less experienced social workers and family support workers by providing consultation, oversight, supervision, and mentoring. This will include specific practice support to students and newly qualified social workers in their Assessed and Supported Year of Employment (ASYE) and other colleagues to ensure that their practice is developed, and embedded.
- To assist the Team Manager to be able to make safe evidence‑based decisions relating to improving outcomes for children and families through the effective use of supervision.
- To assist the Team Manager with work allocation, undertake professional staff supervision (one‑to‑one and group), workload management, prioritisation, and staff performance appraisals alongside undertaking direct observations of practice within the agreed policy and supervision procedures.
- To deputise for the Team Manager, as required.
- Under the direction of the Team Manager, to co‑work on complex cases and undertake joint assessments where the degree of risk and profile of the service user requires greater volumes of experience and expertise.
- To attend a range of meetings on behalf of the Team Manager, including but not limited to, Strategy/ Legal/Public Law Outline (PLO) meetings, Initial Child Protection Conference (ICPC), Review Child.
- 37 hours per week.
- Based at The Hilary Road Centre, Hilary Road Centre, Nuneaton, CV10 9AD

Consultant Social Workers:
Up to £53,769 per annum (includes a £3,500 pro‑rated annual market supplement which is subject to pension, tax and NI deductions Ts&Cs apply).
- Monday to Thursday 9.00am till 5.30pm & Friday 9.00am till 5.00pm.
- Professional Social Work qualification (MA/BA/BSc in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work or Certificate of Qualification in Social Work (CQSW)).
- In depth experience in children’s social work and experience of complex cases.
- Have excellent analytical skills with ability to make well informed decisions.
- Can record and produce concise, effective, and accurate reports.
- Have good communication skills with the ability to build relationships, engage with children and families.
Applicants for the role will need a professional Social Work qualification and Social Work England Registration.
