Job Description

Prerequisites for JROTC Instructor Duty:

• Noncommissioned Officers, E-6 to E-9: Separated or retired within past 5 years with at least 8 years of cumulative honorable service.

• Officers, W-1 to W-5, O-3 to O-6: Same requirement, 8+ years of honorable service, separated or retired within past 5 years.
• ARNG/USAR, Actively Serving/TPU: Same eligibility plus Letter of Recommendation from current Commander and current DA Form 5016 or NGB 23A.

Must further meet the following prerequisites to apply:
Retired 3 years or less; meet Army/AJROTC height/weight/body fat standards, high standards of military bearing, appearance and moral character; no military or civilian adverse actions, (i.e. Article 15’s, Letter of Reprimand, DUI’s or other adverse/negative actions) if still on active duty, must have retirement orders and within six months of retirement or terminal leave date. Desirable prerequisites: A Baccalaureate degree, experience in supply, administration, drill and ceremonies, teaching experience, and experience working with youth groups.

“Gray-Area” National Guard and Reserve members with at least 20 years of creditable service for retired pay and a minimum of 3600 total points for retired pay and who meet all other prerequisites may be considered for AJROTC hard-to-fill-instructor positions.

Applicants must be certified through Cadet Command prior to/in conjunction with applying for this position through the Ogden City School District.

General Purpose

To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

Teaching Job Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences - this may include explaining new ideas and unfamiliar concepts with authority, and in a clear and concise way so that students can understand
• Develop schemes of work and lesson plans
• Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
• Prepare classroom for class activities
• Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
• Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs
• Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
• Use relevant technology to support instruction
• Observe and evaluate student's performance and development
• Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments
• Provide appropriate feedback on work
• Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students
• Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development
• Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by law, district policies and school regulations
• Prepare required reports on students and activities
• Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
• Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school
• Apply appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary
• Participate in department and school meetings, parent meetings
• Clearly communicate necessary information to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs
