Frozen Food Lead

Location: Calcutta

Position Summary

Involved in all aspects of the day-to-day Frozen operations. Directly responsible for product ordering, food quality, merchandising, customer service, and food safety standards. Also responsible for ongoing/constant food education of Team Members and Customers, constantly working to increase profitability and promote future growth of the Frozen department at Giant Eagle.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day activities including putting orders away, waiting on the customer, and utility functions
• Actively monitor, enhance and support a culture of safety which includes, but is not limited to, food safety, Team Member safety, customer safety; ensuring that all food safety, food holding, temperature, and OSHA standards are met
• Adhere to federal, state and county or local regulations and existing laws regarding food safety
• Actively participate in, and promote, an environment which embraces diversity, inclusion, and respect for Team Members, Customers, Vendors and the Community.
• As needed, participate in the develop, design and training content and training execution of new products as they are introduced into the Frozen department
• In conjunction with the Store Managers, manage inventories weekly
• Order supplies and products that allow for efficient management of the business
• Regular inventory taking process
• Meet or exceed budgeted guidelines for food cost percentage. Minimize product waste and ensure that purchases are being made from approved vendors
• Maintain accurate department records to ensure documentation of activities is available
• Prepare, maintain, and track records concerning inventories and work process to calculate gross profits according to company policy
• Establish a positive work environment that enables the Team Members to grow creatively and professionally, while maintaining a high level of morale
• Monitor adherence to Company policies, procedures, and standards to ensure the Company requirements are met
• Participate in “in-store” team meetings and/or regional department manager/team leader meetings as needed
• Lead on-site training for new and existing Team Members

Education and Training Required

High school diploma or equivalent

Experience Required

6 months or more working in a Dairy or Frozen department or similar background required
