Job summary

This post is being offered as a 10 PA post.

An indicative job plan is provided, though the exact job plan will be agreed between the NCA and the post holder on commencement.

In Oldham, The Northern Care Alliance provides health care both in hospital and community settings. The postholder will be based primarily in the community.

The job plan is such that the postholder will be exposed to other parts of the service and settings which will include the provision of reciprocal support to the hospital setting to cover planned absences.

The post holder will provide clinical leadership, diagnosis, management and treatment for patients with specialist palliative and end‑of‑life care needs; act as an expert resource for medical, nursing and other health care professionals across the Trust footprint; and be an active champion of high‑quality palliative and end‑of‑life care both locally and across the region.

The post holder will complement and develop existing Palliative and End‑of‑Life Care services through the provision of specialist knowledge and expertise in Palliative Medicine. The post holder is therefore required to have full registration with the General Medical Council, a valid licence to practise and be on the specialist register for Palliative Medicine or be within 6 months of CCT or equivalent at the time of interview.
