R&D Engineer

Position: R&D Engineer (Permanent)
We are now recruiting for a Research & Development Engineer to join an established manufacturing business based in the Dudley area. The Research & Development Engineer will support the design and development of medical products, this will include project management, root cause analysis and problem solving as well as design, testing and product documentation. This will be a varied role working and liaising with the team on any projects.

As the Research & Development Engineer you will be responsible for :

* Ensure that user needs and market/technical designs are researched and thoroughly understood

* Define Product specifications based on design inputs/outputs and confirm criteria

* Apply technical knowledge and understanding to design, development testing and process problems

* Design & develop components and complete products that meet or exceed product specifications

* Manage the creation of prototypes

* Carry out the benchmarking process

* Lead product design and project reviews

* Manage the creation of the BOM , tracking costs and drawing status within this

* Develop and manage test plans

* Work alongside others in the team to implement design and project goals

* Provide build information to Data management and operations

* Manage cost tracking & status of the BOM

* Support the completion of risk assessment documents

* Support in the resolution of any product issues and implement engineering issues

* Carry out root cause analysis and evaluation of product quality issues

Requirements:

* A degree in Mechanical Engineering, electrical engineering or related engineering discipline

* Ideally experienced in a medical related field

* Experience of engineering software for design

* Experience in Solid Works, experience in PDM preferred

* Able to resolve issues in a logical manner

* Excellent Communication skills
