Mechanical Design Engineer (Medium-Voltage Product Development)
Campsie, Northern Ireland
Vertiv are a global provider of critical digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, manufacturing a range of Medium‑Voltage switch gear for both the European and North American markets.
Key Responsibilities- Define product specifications, features, and functionalities, ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
- Develop product designs in accordance with Product Standards (e.g., IEC 62271 & IEEE C37.20.2).
- Perform 3D modelling and 2D drafting of product designs.
- Align with the culture of innovation within the product development team, encouraging creative thinking and idea generation.
- Work closely with external suppliers and partners to source components and materials.
- Adhere to the department's NPDI process and complete relevant documentation.
- Stay current with technological advancements and industry developments, applying relevant knowledge to enhance product offerings.
- Build prototypes to support product design development.
- Follow the Engineering Change process for existing products.
- Demonstrate ethics and integrity.
- Conduct Product Risk Assessment through DFMEA (Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis).
- Organize drawings and documentation for efficient reference.
- Provide timely, accurate responses to requests for design information and drawings.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, design technology, or equivalent (combination of education & experience).
- Proficiency in 3D modelling using Creo, Solidworks, or an equivalent 3D design package.
- Experience with 3D modelling, 2D drafting (first‑angle and third‑angle projection), and GD&T (Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Proficiency in product lifecycle management (PLM) software and other relevant applications.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
- Time‑management skills.
- 2+ years of experience in design within a manufacturing environment or directly related experience.
