The Cloud Operations Team sits within the Business Operations department at Softcat and is dedicated to driving excellence in cloud strategy & execution. The team is structured into two dynamic units:
- Cloud Procurement
: manages end-to-end procurement of all vendor cloud programs, including Marketplace transactions and Microsoft Enterprise Licensing. - Marketplace Cloud Enablement
: leads cloud marketplace transformation, aiming to be a market leader by delivering a simple, transparent, and customer‑centric experience.
You will sit within the Cloud Procurement unit focusing on the procurement of all vendor cloud programmes for our customers.
What You’ll Be Doing- Self‑manage workload and time scales to ensure vendor targets are met by prioritising and placing orders on time.
- Process high‑value, high‑impact orders using comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft, AWS, and Google procurement programmes with a thorough understanding of complex order processes.
- Support Cloud Operations management with programme/product/price changes.
- Instruct internal vendor specialists on operational processes at a high level to expedite urgent orders, fix customer processing errors, select product combinations and meet contractual responsibilities.
- Proactively manage any risks to the business linked to cloud procurement.
- Work autonomously and make decisions for the best possible outcomes, even in the absence of management or account managers.
- Support cloud operations management with cloud billing processes and reporting.
- Proven experience in procurement/operational roles.
- Familiarity with the operations of how cloud programmes are transacted & billed.
- Familiarity with AWS, Azure, and Google Marketplaces and why customers utilize them.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills; able to work independently and in teams.
- Ability to multitask, set own deadlines, prioritise, and deliver against them.
- Technically proficient, quick to absorb new information, and committed to continuous personal development.
- Hybrid working – 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.
- Flexible hours – flexing the times you start and finish during the day.
- Flexibility around school pick‑up and drop‑offs.
