Job Overview

Apply for the Associate Procurement Director role at HwC Ventures and join NHS Commercial Solutions (NHSCS) on a six‑month fixed‑term contract. This strategic position offers the opportunity to provide leadership across procurement and consultancy initiatives, oversee programme and project delivery, and enhance value and quality outcomes for NHS member trusts and customers. The successful candidate will bring senior‑level commercial and procurement experience, strong interpersonal and communication abilities, and a people‑focused approach.

Additional details:
Interviews will be held on 15 January at our Dorking office. The post holder will lead delivery of procurement projects, manage a pipeline of procurement work, and be the principal expert on UK and EU procurement regulations, including the Procurement Act 2023 and Provider Selection Regime 2024.

• Develop and support the NHS Commercial Solutions offer through execution of procurement projects.
• Design, implement, and continually review procurement and category strategies to deliver innovative value for NHSCS member organisations.
• Create and manage the procurement project pipeline workplan, aligning it with NHSCS strategy and member workplans.
• Lead the delivery of complex procurements, providing strategic advice to senior management and divisional leads.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities using spend analysis, benchmarking, contract renegotiation, and volume leverage.
• Champion modern procurement practices, adopting new innovations and improved technology.
• Supervise procurement and projects across member trusts and for new customers.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to develop networks and forums.
• Ensure robust stakeholder interface and delivery of innovative procurement practices to improve patient care.
• Provide specialist healthcare procurement expertise and training to procurement teams and key stakeholders.
• Support directors in achieving cost and efficiency savings through category management collaboration.
• Ensure contract compliance and extract value from procurement projects.
• Identify and work with government agencies and social services to support national initiatives.
• Coordinate cross‑functional teams on major procurement projects to ensure timely delivery.
• Advise on UK and EU procurement regulations to ensure all activities comply with policies, procedures, and legislation.
• Recommend changes and lead on procurement practice improvements.

• Senior‑level commercial and procurement experience in a public‑sector environment.

• Proven strategic leadership and project delivery capability.

• Strong knowledge of UK and European procurement regulations.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.

• Ability to work autonomously, mentor others, and deliver under a contract management framework.
